The province has launched a new “seniors website ” to provide seniors and their families with better access to information on available programs and services. Healthy living and sport minister Ida Chong announced that seniorsbc.ca can now quickly locate up to date information about topics on healthy living, transportation, finances, continuing education, recreation programs and volunteer opportunities.
This website looks to be an exciting and quite comprehensive source of useful information – including financial information. One area it does not cover though, is to provide guidance as to how to protect the subsidies by controlling the taxation of investment income. If you would like to set up an appointment with a professional advisor to make sure that you are not sacrificing the income you earn on the proceeds from the sale of the family home, especially when moving to assisted care, click here.
